Fitness Assessment

Sit and Reach Test- The test is given using a metal sit and reach box or a home made sit and reach box. The test measures the flexibility of the hamstrings and lower back. Students are to do the test with both legs. One leg stays straight and you test the other leg. The students then swap legs and get their best score with each leg.

Evaluation of Criterion- The majority of the class fell under the satisfactory category. There were only a few students who need to work on their score to get into that healthy category. Students must stretch and exercise the lower back and hamstrings to improve their scores.

Preparation for Assessment- To prepare for this assessment students were to stretch out their hamstrings and lower backs. They were stretched out before taking the test and they also have been tested on this before so they knew how to mentally prepare for this particular assessment.
